Dear Summit,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to tell you about the death of Mr. Farrell Ackley, who has been a friend, mentor, teacher and coach to Summit families for decades. Mr. Ackley joined the staff in the fall of 1972 as Dean of the Boys Upper School and continued to teach in the Upper School his entire career. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Ann, three children, David (Julie Kugler '87) Ackley '87, Matthew (Birgitta) Ackley '86 and Rebecca (Ryan) Christie '93 and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the TP White and Sons funeral home on Tuesday night from 5-8 pm. The address is 2050 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati 45230. If you would like to send a card, Mrs. Ackley resides at 7137 Five Mile Road Cincinnati, OH 45230.
A funeral Mass will be held in The Summit’s Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel on Wednesday, May 12, at 1 pm, followed by a reception in St. Cecilia’s. The high school will be dismissed at noon so that faculty and students who wish to attend the Mass may do so.
The family asks that memorials be sent to The Summit Country Day School in memory of Farrell Ackley.
I know you will keep Farrell’s family in your thought and prayers.
